At the November school board meeting, the school board voted to have the corporation and school colors as white, black and forest green. Due to the change in colors for Wanatah School, we will begin transitioning uniforms to the new school colors. We will replace the red and white uniforms at Wanatah as they wear out. I feel the board's decision is very appropriate considering that the long term vision for the corporation is to have one campus for all grades which means much of the LaCrosse heritage will be gone. This decision helps to keep a part of the proud LaCrosse heritage.
In addition, the board decided that the mascot for the corporation will be the Tiger. This means we will be the Tri-Township Tigers, the LaCrosse Tigers and the Wanatah Tigers. We are still known as LaCrosse High School, Wanatah Elementary and Wanatah Middle School; it is only the mascot that will change so that we are uniformly known as the Tigers.
The transition to different colors and mascot raises a question: What do parents do with their Racer wear? Once we decide to change a uniform for a sport, we will give parents sufficient lead time to transition to the new colors. We are currently working on designs for clothing for Wanatah fans. We will get information out to parents when those designs are available.
We hope the change will bring our schools and communities closer together as we work to give our students the best learning environment we can provide.
